Dual Enrollment Program

You must be enrolled in Foothill College for the correct quarter (Winter 2024) and submit your CWID and a pdf of your completed enrollment form no later than March 8th, 2024. 

Enrolling and submitting your paperwork early is strongly encouraged so that any issues can be resolved and you do not miss your chance to participate in the program due to college deadlines. 

Please contact ltannert@krauseinnovationcenter.org with the following information:

• Your full name
• The date that you submitted your application
• Your OpenCCC ID Number
• Your application confirmation number (you will be able to see this in OpenCCC)

Write your engineering journal in a place that is easy for your team to update. This could be a notebook, binder or digital format like a Google doc. However, you will need to turn your journal in online as a PDF, so keep that in mind. Consider the following questions as you work on your journal

• What did you discover?
• What was hard and how did you work through it?
• What types of problems did you have?
• How did you fix them?
• How did you work together? 

We want examples that are specific to your project. The best journals will tell the judges what you learned and how that helped you improve your design or how it might help you in the future. Great journals also show exactly how to build your final solution.

Don’t forget to include evidence that your team used digital collaboration tools!

All courses are CSU transferable as general education courses. Please note that courses are not UC transferable, but they still look good on a college application!

You can check your unofficial grades for each associated Canvas class after May 15th, once your Engineering Journal and Final Showcase has been evaluated. Official grades will be available after the courses end on June 7th. Transcripts can be ordered by following the directions on this page: https://foothill.edu/reg/admission-records/transcripts.html

Canvas is the official learning management system for Foothill College, so all course information and materials are located there. Inside the Canvas course, you will find additional resources and lessons designed to help support aspects of your Tech Challenge, as well as a place to ask questions, network, and get feedback from others who are also in the course. 

Please reference and use the lessons and activities as needed, but note that no lessons/activities are required. Your Final Showcase and engineering journal will be used to evaluate your mastery of course objectives.

You will access Canvas, as well as other important Foothill student information through your MyPortal sign in. Go to myportal.fhda.edu to access the sign in. Your Campuswide ID will be your 8 digit CWID number. Your password will initially be your birthdate in MMDDYYYY format.

Once you have signed in for the first time, you will be asked to choose a new password. In MyPortal, your Canvas classes will be listed on the first page. Click on a course to open it in Canvas.

You can only repeat these classes if you received a failing grade and want to improve the recorded grade on your transcript. You cannot repeat for additional credits. You can always participate in Tech Challenge again, but you can only enroll in the Dual Enrollment Program once.

This is the student ID number produced when students enroll at Foothill College (or any community college). This number is 8 digits, all numeric, and will most likely start with “205”
